Addons

As in many other games of this type, Original War offers an option of upgrading your base as you build it up. Certain buildings within your base can be upgraded, or can have add-ons attached to them:

Building upgrades modify the structure itself in order to upgrade its core functions, such as research or constructing vehicles. Buildings ordered to be upgraded are unusable during the upgrade process, but gain new or improve on its abilities once the process is finished. Upgrading a building is irreversible. The laboratory in particular needs upgrades to be able to conduct research further down the technology tree.

Addons on the other hand are smaller structures that are built adjacent to a parent building, and cannot function without it. They expand on the abilities of the building they are attached to in return for making the building require more power to function. The factory needs different addons to be able to construct different vehicles.

Armaments laboratory - allows advanced research into new types of armaments and combat equipment.

Computer laboratory - allows advanced research into computers and related technology.

  • Built by: Americans, Russians.
  • Crew: as in standard laboratory (max. 6 people).

Optical laboratory - allows advanced research into optics and related technology.
  • Allows: New technologies: Optics upgrade (1,2,3); Radar; Remote control; Materialisation detection; Hidden camera; Remote controlled explosives; Laser sight; High energy laser; Double laser; Partial invisibility.
